We Work Alongside Founders, Not Ahead of Them.
Kairos Works is a small advisory practice in Subang Jaya. We help early founders think more clearly and act more deliberately — without the noise.
Back to Home— Our Story
Built From Time Spent in the Room With Founders
Kairos Works came together in 2021 from a simple observation: the advice most available to early Malaysian founders was either too abstract or too optimistic. Frameworks borrowed from far larger markets, case studies from contexts that did not apply, and a general tendency to move quickly past the messy, uncertain part of starting something.
We started with a different premise. The early stage is where the most consequential thinking happens — and it deserves a different kind of support. Not cheerleading, not a long slide deck, but a careful, honest conversation with someone who has seen these decisions before.
Over the years, we have worked with founders across a range of sectors in Malaysia — from product companies testing early demand in the Klang Valley to service businesses figuring out how to reach buyers outside their immediate network. The specifics vary, but the core challenge is usually the same: too many open questions, too little structured time to work through them properly.
Our name reflects this. Kairos is the Greek concept of the right moment — not clock time, but meaningful time. We believe the early months of a venture are full of such moments, and that they are best navigated with a steady, experienced companion rather than alone.
Our Mission
To help early-stage founders in Malaysia move from uncertainty to direction — with honesty, care and a clear-eyed view of what is realistic at each stage.
Our Approach
We keep engagements small and deliberate. Each founder we work with gets our full attention, not a template. We combine structured thinking tools with frank conversation — and we write things down so the output is usable long after our sessions end.
Who We Work With
Founders and small founding teams at the idea-to-traction stage, typically before Series A. Most are based in Malaysia, though we work remotely with founders elsewhere in Southeast Asia when the fit is right.

— How We Work
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
These are not policies we post on a wall. They are the practical commitments that shape every engagement.
Confidentiality
Everything shared in an engagement stays within it. We do not share client information, ideas or business details with any third party, including other clients.
Written Scope
Every engagement begins with a clear written scope — what is included, what the output will be and what the timeline looks like. No ambiguity about what you are paying for.
Direct Communication
We communicate plainly and do not hedge when we have a clear view. If something is not working, we say so early — rather than waiting until a review.
Respectful Pacing
We do not push founders to move faster than their situation allows. Our engagements are designed to accommodate real-world constraints without losing momentum.
Deliverable Accountability
Every engagement produces a tangible output — a written summary, a plan or a set of working notes. We follow up to confirm it is useful and to clarify anything that needs it.
No Conflict of Interest
We do not hold equity stakes in the businesses we advise, and we do not receive referral fees from third parties. Our only obligation is to give you our honest view.
— Our Values & Context
Advisory Work Shaped by the Malaysian Startup Context
The Malaysian startup ecosystem has developed considerably over the past decade. There is more capital available, more accelerators operating and more founders willing to try building something new. But the support infrastructure for the very earliest stages — before a startup is ready for acceleration programmes, before there is a product to show — remains thin. That is the gap Kairos Works occupies.
We work with founders who are dealing with the real questions of early-stage building: how to know if an idea is worth pursuing, how to reach a first set of customers without a large budget, how to make decisions under uncertainty and how to keep moving without burning out. These are not questions that benefit from a generic framework or a borrowed case study. They need careful, contextual thinking applied to the specific situation in front of you.
Our advisory practice draws on direct experience across Malaysian B2B and B2C markets, a working understanding of the local investor landscape and a long-standing interest in the practical mechanics of early traction — not growth hacks, but the slow, considered work of finding and serving a first cohort of customers well. We believe that clarity at the start shapes everything that follows, and we invest our time accordingly.
